Teachers’ Workshop- Kindergarten to Year 1

This workshop was held on 27/07/2014 from 9:00 am to 12:30pm at Toongabbie Community center. Mr.Kathir Siavasubramaniam, President, NSWFTS commenced   the workshop with welcome speech and Mr. Thiru Thirunanthakumar, Principal, TSCH presided over the workshop. This workshop was mainly focused on how to teach Tamil to Kindergarten & year 1 students using letters, words, pictures, audio & video.

Teachers from Balar Malar, Eastwood Tamil Study centre, Mount Druitt Tamil Study Centre,Tamil Study Centre Homebush and Wentworthville Tamil Study Centre were participated in the workshop. Firstly, teachers started sharing their experiences in teaching Tamil language to Kindergarten & Year 1 students. It was an interesting session as teachers shared their techniques to engage students throughout the class time.

Mr. Anna Sundaram from Balar Malar introduced how the technology can revolutionise the way we teach language in Kindy & Year 1 and also increase the student participation in the class. This included introducing apps for iPad/ Tablet which have audio/video contents for primary classes. Teachers were excited to hear about this & asked questions about the apps.

At the end teachers shared what they will take away from the workshop to be implemented in their class rooms.  Mr. S. Kananathan/Secretary, NSWFTS delivered vote of thanks to conclude the workshop & lunch were served for the participants.
